The EF and EK series electromagnetic brakes and clutches brake or transmit torque on rotating loads using the magnetic pull generated by the coil. They run on DC voltage; when power is removed, a spring attached to the armature releases the torque, and switching times can be shortened with special electronic circuits.
With asbestos-free linings, slip-free and quiet operation, class H insulation and corrosion-resistant coated surfaces, these units are maintenance-free. As friction devices, their air gap should be checked periodically for wear. Custom units up to 10,000 Nm can be produced for special applications.
