Electric Motors

In Omega forced-cooled motors cooling is provided by a separate fan that runs independently of the motor shaft. In variable-speed drives, the shaft-mounted fan does not cool enough at low speed, while at high speed fan losses and noise increase. An independent fan keeps cooling steady across the whole speed range.

They are available for all standard outputs from frame 80 to 355 in efficiency classes IE3 and IE4. The aluminium series can run on a drive without additional measures; in the cast iron series an insulated non-drive-end bearing or end shield is used from 110 kW upwards.

Applications

  • Variable-speed (VFD) applications
  • Conveyors
  • Lifting equipment
  • Geared drives
  • Mixers and mills
  • Pumps, fans and compressors

Custom manufacturing options

  • Aluminium series: frames 80–225, inverter-ready without extra measures
  • Cast iron series: frames 160–355
  • Insulated NDE bearing or end shield from 110 kW
  • Combination with encoder and brake
