The ELK 2MS series comprises single-phase induction motors that add a start capacitor, switched in only during starting, to the permanent run capacitor. Once the motor is up to speed the start capacitor is disconnected, giving higher starting torque on a single-phase supply.
They suit demanding starts such as compressors and machines that start under load. The series shares the 2MD frame design: frames 63–90, 0.12–2.2 kW, 2 or 4 poles, 220 V 50 Hz supply and IE2 efficiency.
