ELK standard three-phase induction motors are general-purpose motors designed to European standards and built in efficiency classes IE2, IE3 and IE4. Aluminium and cast iron housings are offered across IEC frames 63–315. Because the base design already meets IE3, moving from IE2 to IE3 keeps the same mounting dimensions.
The removable feet can be bolted to three sides of the frame, so the terminal box can easily be placed on the right, left or top. Thanks to the symmetrical frame, the terminal box can also sit closer to the drive end or the fan end.
Standard motors use class F insulation while staying within class B temperature rise, which leaves an extra thermal margin. They are suitable for inverter operation; for wide speed ranges an external fan is recommended. Motors bearing the UL mark comply with UL 1004-1 and CSA C22.2 No. 100.
